About Us

Greetings from Shenandoah University and the Frederick County Esther Boyd Animal Shelter!  The Project and Production Management class of the Arts Management Program at Shenandoah University is working with the Animal Shelter to host Woofstock ’09, a fundraising event and celebration with pets, fun activities, music, and food, on December 5th, 2009 from 12-4pm at the Old Winchester Armory.  We ask that you consider helping us advertise for the Woofstock ’09 celebration to assist us in our efforts to aid this integral part of the community.

Every month, the animal shelter helps about 60 pets find loving homes, and gives countless others a safe haven where they are loved and cared for. The shelter also helps the community by allowing 90% of the stray dogs that are brought in get adopted.  They are a huge resource to the community and they need your support.

Providing a comfortable place for all of these animals requires a lot of time and funding (a resource that is hard to come by in these difficult economic times). Volunteers and workers at the shelter want to use the proceeds earned to give a boost to their spay and neuter program.  Every day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in this country while only 10,000 people are born.  There simply are not enough homes for them.  This program will help to control the population of stray animals.

The shelter also wants to use part of the proceeds from Woofstock ’09 to purchase Kuranda resting benches.  These resting benches will enhance the comfort of animals at the shelter, and allow the care takers to clean and maintain them with more ease than the resting benches that are currently in use.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.  Please know that your generous gift of in-kind advertising helps us to reach out to the community and benefit a great resource to Frederick County.  With your help you will not only receive the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping man’s best friend, but two free tickets to Woofstock ‘09.  Don’t forget to bring your dog!

A member of our class will be following up with you shortly to discuss your support. You may contact Megan Cheresnowsky at (804) 815-2067 or mcheresn@su.edu.

Sincerely,

The Frederick County Esther Boyd Animal Shelter
